High on the hard stuff; a tea with milk & two sugars, Mr. JOnes, a designer / artist who works for both blue chip clients & wacky mavericks globally. His work is at the cutting edge of the "urban art" scene, he is one mother f**king multi-tasking geek, who occasionally comes out of his studio leaving around plug sockets.

Kitch-en will be exhibiting a varied selection of Mr. JOnes 'art' + 'Lunartik in a cup of tea' resin figures. soooo.....
If your in the neighbourhood...please pop along to the gallery where your more than likely to find Mr. JOnes sipping on a warm cup tea and having a bloody good natter!

'RE:SOURCE' group exhibition by CCAD

Monday 30th April - Friday 11th May
Launch party: Wednesday 2nd May, 6-8pm. FREE drinks and entertainment. All welcome.

Re:source is an exhibition showcasing the talents of eight emerging artists combining painting, photography and sculpture. It focuses on each artist’s ability to re-use and resource elements of the everyday environment, each using their own methodology. Some have literally re-used images, ideas and found objects, whilst others have tapped into their inner strengths and resources. The work on show is both varied and thought-provoking.

'Scrawl Collective' screen print collection

Thursday 17th May - Thursday 14th June
Launch party & special preview: Thursday 17th May, 5-8pm ft. Live art performances by two scrawl collective graffiti artists, FREE drinks and entertainment. All welcome.

The Scrawl Collective story begins in 1998 with the publication of Scrawl, Dirty Graphics and Strange Characters. This was the first book that really picked up where Henry Chalfont’s seminal Spray Can Art and Subway Art left off. During the research of this book one of the authors Ric Blackshaw identified an as yet barely noticed development among a few young illustrators and artists centring at that time around Bristol.

Ric decided to start his agency Scrawl Collective with the three prime movers in this scene Steff Plaetz, Will Barras and Mr Jago. The agency has continued to grow, doing exhibitions and events all over the world. Clients such as Swatch, Sony Music, Nike, Puma, Burton Snow Boards, Boxfresh, Levi’s, Addict and Virgin Mobile have all used the Scrawl touch down the years and as a consequence of this Scrawl Collective has become highly collectable with original canvasses and mural commissions fetching higher sums year on year.

By identifying and championing new talent Scrawl Collective has always stayed ahead of it’s many imitators while always being true to it’s roots.

Kitch-en will be displaying a series of limited edition silkscreen prints by Scrawl Collective throughout May and June. All prints will be signed, numbered and for sale with prices starting as low as £25. This exhibition is exclusive to Kitch-en in the North East and will be a rare opportunity to see the prints exhibited and to grab yourself a fantastic piece of artwork at a very affordable price.

SHOWCASE:

Laura Bath

Working under the partnership name of Indescribble or under her own name, Laura Bath is working her way creature by creature into the Illustration and Character design scene. Her "guys" (as she likes to call them) have regularly fallen out of her head and somehow made it into the real world, landing on any scrap of paper left lying around.
Laura's work has made it's merry way into design publications such as the Pictoplasma Character Encyclopedia, Clutter magazine and onto her own greetings cards, keyrings, badges etc.
Her inspiration comes from real life, everyday people and the obsurdity of humanity. This is interpreted into a character or a captured moment and is unashamedly about making people smile, hopefully in recognition of someone or something.
Like any self respecting Gemini, Laura has an artistic flip side that rears it's head occaisionally and tells her to paint and draw sensibly. Mostly this gets ignored but every so often it breaks through.

Magazine of the month: Clutter

We have a great range of creative and cool magazines stocked here at kitch-en but many of you may not know what these magazines are all about. That's why we've decided to do a little feature on a magazine each month and show you what's what.

This month we're highlighting the UK's leading toy culture mag: Clutter

So What is it?
UK-based with an international perspective, Clutter is the first English language magazine to focus on the designer toy phenomenon. Combining in-depth interviews with the scene’s leading figures, forthright editorial and outstanding photography and design, it’s rapidly establishing itself as the toy collector’s must have read.
What's in it?
ISSUE09// The Wheaty Wheat issue.

Featured Articles and interviews:
Chris Lee (Cover Artist) | Plastic Culture | Tiny Troopers | Pictoplasma Berlin 2007 | Dot Dot Dash | Toby HK | Richard VanOver | Brandt Peters | Sket One | Kathie Olivas | Phallic Mammary | Mad*L | Candy Killer | Andrew Bell | Super 7 Store | Things to make and do – the rise of Plush | Mari Inukai | Triclops in Hong Kong | Do it your mole | News | Reviews | Exhibitions
How much is it?
You can buy individual copies and back issues of the magazine for £4.50 or subscribe to 6 issues for just £25. Bargain!!

MAiLmeART.com

MAiLmeART.com was created by Darren Di Lieto, the founder and editor of LCSV4, after toying with the idea of doing a collaborative project that everyone involved in gets something out of. MAiLmeART is a little project designed to test your skills, make you some money and give you the chance to have a bit of fun. Oh!.. and win some really cool prizes.

In 18-24 months MAiLmeART will be holding an exhibition in London (venue to be confirmed). The show will include submissions from you guys and girls which will be on sale at the exhibition. The project will carry on and continue after the show with possibly another show the year after and the year after that. Hopefully the first show will be the first of many.

Kitch-en's very own resident artist Mr. Arteest submitted the above piece of artwork; a hand fabricated, padded, vintage gift box which contained one of his very own Vintage T.V. T-shirts which was kindly contributed by Kitch-en to the project for one lucky winner to receive.

Checkout www.mailmeart.com for more information and submission guidelines.
