Welcome to our February update. Keeping you in touch with everything that's happening at Kitch-en. On the agenda this month we have: • KITCH-EN GALLERY IN MIDDLESBROUGH IS CLOSING • 'CARBON & CHEMICALS' A Xynthetic Group Show Kitch-en Gallery in Middlesbrough is Closing
You may have heard rumours flying around cyberspace that we are closing. Well we can now confirm that the rumours are true. Kitch-en as a physical gallery & shop space in Middlesbrough will be closing it's doors at the end of February. This hasn't been an easy decision by any means, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end at some point. It is not all bad news though because although the physical gallery/shop will be closing it's doors, Kitch-en will remain a strong force in the contemporary urban art scene via our website, we are currently revamping the shop where you will soon find a selection of top notch prints to accompany the already popular Scrawl Collective Screenprints. We also plan to organise and curate exhibitions around the UK, introducing some of the amazing artists we have had the pleasure of working with in Middlesbrough the past 18 months, as well as fresh new talent to the rest of the country. It might sound cheesy but... watch this space. We will be keeping everyone informed about our future plans via the usual communication methods. If you are an artist/collective and consider your work to be under the broad banner of 'contemporary urban' then please do still contact us with portfolio's etc, we keep all communication on record and there may be opportunities for exhibitions in unusual spaces in the future. Kitch-en 'Garage Sale': Commencing Mon 10th March 2008.
Since we're closing up shop, everything we have accumalated must go. From scrap wood to the beautiful blue leather chair we have sat in the corner. Literally everything we have that is excess to our future needs must go and we're selling things at ridiculous prices. We have a load of cardboard boxes, scrap wood, paper, acrylic paints... all sorts really, so we are naming it the Kitch-en 'Garage Sale'. We will have everything on show and available to buy for daft prices from the week commencing Monday 10th March, opening time as follows: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, 10am - 5pm. Or by appointment at any other time throughout March. 'Carbon & Chemicals' A Xynthetic Group Show The first leg of the Xynthetic show has now ended at Kitch-en Gallery. What a fantastic show it was too, some awesome hand painted decks, accompanied by top notch hand screen prints and a wall full of colourful Lomo goodness, not forgetting the cherry on the cake... a lo-fi sSuper8 video projection presented on a classic blueberry imac. For those who missed you, you missed a treat. For those who came, you will always remember it! The show will now continue on its tour visiting Nottigham next, where rumour has it there will be some brand new prints on show, and then onto Bristol.
