'Fear of Flight' A solo exhibition by Holly Beth Herbert

Monday 19th March - Friday 13th April
Private view Monday 19th March, 6-8pm

Holly Herbert is a promising, emerging artist and curator currently living and working in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. ‘Fear of Flight’ at Kitch-en Gallery will be her first exhibition in Middlesbrough. The artist says …

“I’m so excited to be exhibiting here in Middlesbrough; especially with the recent opening of the MIMA I really feel that the city has a chance of developing an interesting contemporary art scene. I’m just happy the Kitch-en Gallery and I can play a small part in that.”

The art works to be exhibited were all created during her recent 4 month exchange in Seoul, South Korea, and are based on the superstitions that surround the imagery of birds both here in Europe and those in Asia.

The majority of the works are simple line images made using a method of hand printing called mono-type, although Holly often uses other printing methods and hand drawing as well. Each of the works in this exhibition is a signed and framed original.

YESNOMAYBE

YES NO MAYBE is a London-based streetwear / urban clothing label that boasts its own distinctive sense of irony. Featuring strong, irreverent graphics, the range revels in randomness, with diverse references to popular culture. Born of its creator’s indecisiveness, Yes No Maybe has a flavour that’s fresh, individual, assertive and urban.

They have recently relaunched their website and have expanded their whole range including some very unique hoodies and coats made from original 1950's military materials. Go check it out... www.yesnomaybe.co.uk

'The Fellows Who Cut The Hay' by The Fellows

"Since the Dawn of time, man has tried to destroy the Sun. But this evening, whilst the Sun doth still shine, the Fellows shall cut the Hay".

'The Fellows Who Cut The Hay' is some of the freshest music we have heard for a very long time. Quirky & eccentric lyrics with dashings of humour combine with laid back beats to provide a compilation of music like no other. Personal highlights include "Dip It", "The Silver Gnome" and "Barry". This is alternative hip hop at it's very finest and we suggest you take a listen now: www.myspace.com/thefellowswhocutthehay

We have managed to get hold of 20 copies of the album which are completely FREE. To get hold of one simply pop down to the shop or, if you can't get down to us, e-mail us with a reason why we should spend 32p on a first class stamp to send you one.
