GREAT NEW STOCK ONLINE & INSTORE:
Adding to our collection of toys at kitch-en we have a great new family of cuddly critters in the form of HandsonHearts by Nathan Wilkes at Choowi. They're an eclectic family of unique, hand made plush toys, each one with it's own name and story, seeking a new home to add to their lifestory and experiences.
We also have some great new Clutch bags which are going down well, from Clutch Vintage, based in Newcastle. And let's not forget the fantastic selection of quirky greeting cards by Prod, with their rudey pics of gingerbread men and women they won't fail to put a smile on that special someone's face.
THE CHAPS:
Kitch-en have recently been working in partnership with Ten Feet Tall to bring some kitch-en creativity to their flagship night 'Play' at The Empire, Middlesbrough on a Saturday night.
Every few weeks you'll be able to catch The Chaps from kitch-en at Play, Lording it up and creating an artistic stir. No more details can be revealed here, you'll just have to come along and see for yourself.

TEA & COFFEE AT KITCH-EN:
Yes there's no denying that winter is here now so to help you battle those winter blues kitch-en will now be serving proper mugs of tea and coffee, accompanied by a fine assortment of biscuits for you to go dunk crazy with. We'll also be serving fruit and flavoured tea alongside the traditional standard Yorkshire brew with a special 'tea of the day' for each day of the week. So what does it cost for this privilege? Just one of the Queen's finest sterling pound coins - £1 a cup (including a couple of biscuits).
CALLING ALL DESIGNERS/MAKERS:
If you're a designer/maker with something you'd like to sell whether it be greeting cards, t-shirts, toys, jewellery etc.. we'd like to hear from you. We want to represent and support as many local and regional artists/designers as possible and at the same time be the best shop in town and online selling unique creative items you can't find anywhere else. OPEN CALL FOR EXHIBITIONS/EVENTS/HAPPENINGS AT KITCH-EN:
Film, music, poetry, art, fashion, animation, design - whatever your creative discipline we've got the space to showcase it.
Kitch-en are calling all creatives to get in contact with us if they have an idea for an exhibition, event or 'happening' as we'd like to help out with making it happen. Kitch-en is an adaptable space so don't be put off by what you might see, thinking 'it'd never work in there', we'll try all we can to accommodate your ideas.
We already have a few ideas up our sleeves such as a monthly acoustic evening, a film night, an afternoon tea party and the possibility of a mini art/craft market type thing is playing on our minds too... but it's really up to you guys - our audience and supporters to let us know what you'd like to see at kitch-en. It would be a great great help if you get in contact just with a quick email to let us know what you'd like to see happening here at kitch-en.
GET YOUR OWN ONLINE GALLERY/PORTFOLIO TO SELL FROM:
Kitch-en is doesn't believe in just existing in the physical world, oh no, we like to play in the virtual space of the internet too as it allows us to reach a far wider audience. That's why we have an online gallery system set up that is available for all artists/designers to take advantage of. There is a basic yearly set-up/subscription fee of £30 entitling you to display up to 10 images of your work, which you may change once a month if you wish. In effect you get your own mini website/portfolio with a biography and contact details etc. and the ability to sell. There is no commission taken on any sales, since all sales go directly through you and if you have a Paypal account set up we can easily add buy it now buttons to your gallery so it's much easier for viewers to make a purchase. LAST CHANCE TO CATCH 'THE WORLD OF ARTEEST':
'The World of Arteest' exhibition has been extended and will now be showing until Saturday 11th November so you have just 4 more days to catch it at 46 Montrose Street. The artwork is integrated into the shop environment and there is original work for sale from as little at £6 and up to £350.
'The World Of Arteest' by Arteest
Arteest is the ulterior mindset of Mark Warner. A trained graphic designer who took a shine to urban art-forms and decided to apply his design skills to artworks and allow the wider world to enjoy them. His work is a fusion of graffiti, street art, graphic design and illustration. He will often use found objects and materials to draw, spray or paint onto and they are just as likely to be found in the streets to collect or hanging on a gallery wall to observe.
A central element to Arteest's work are the family of characters he uses as a means of communicating feelings and thoughts on local and global issues.
'The World Of Arteest' is the first ever showcase of all of these characters which to date include: The Art Goblins - a satirical slant on the modern day fine art critic. Mr.Smileyman - an undercover agent seeking and encouraging smiles around the world. Mr.Armyman - the slightly evil twin of Smileyman spreading so called ‘peace’ around the world just as the Americans claim to do and The Finger People - a misunderstood group of mixed urban beings, a reflection on our society and the ideals of a utopian world.

KITCH-EN AT THE CLUNY MARKET, NEWCASTLE
Here at kitch-en we like to travel once in a while and when we do we like to take our fine goods with us... so that's why we'll be in attendance at the super fantastic Cluny Market in Newcastle on Sunday 12th November 12-4pm with a full array of exquisite merchandise by ourselves and other talented artists/designers who's stuff we stock at the shop.
So... if you're more of a Tyner than a Teessider and you've been itching to come and see us in Middlesbrough but haven't found the time, don't miss this opportunity.
There will also be plenty of other fine n dandy stalls with stuff on sale by other great north east designers just incase you can't find something you like from us. And The Cluny serve fantastic food and drink too.
