GENERAL NEWS:

Lomography Camera's now in stock

You may remember we had a Lomography workshop which led to The Lomo Wall exhibition back in September. Both went so well we were recommended to become a Lomography stockist and now we are - in fact we're the exclusive Lomo camera stockist for the Tees Valley region. Yippee!!
Pop down and check out the cool range of camera's in stock, from the Action Sampler which takes 4 pics at once in sequence, to the Coloursplash (see image) which splashes your photos with a range of colours. Lomography camera's make perfect Christmas gifts, unique and fun to use by all ages with prices starting as low as £16. And what's more... to introduce the range we're offering a 10% discount until 30th November.

The full range of camera's will also be available through our online shop soon. In the meantime you can order using the catalogue available to download from: http://www.kitch-en.co.uk/shop/lomo/lomo_catalogue.doc

You might want to check out our brand new Lomohome which features some of the best photos from the workshop and exhibition: http://www.lomohomes.com/Kitch-en

'Kitch-en's Christmas Cupboard': Call for Submissions

This December Kitch-en will be turning into one big cupboard full of Christmas goodies!

Help us line our shelves with magnificent objects and creative masterpieces, so our customers can get the best gifts in town. We want everything from artwork to clothing, so submissions are open to all designers, craft makers and artists etc. BUT the Christmas Cupboard holds a challenge... Every item submitted must fit into one of our standard brown paper carrier bags which measure 26 cm wide, 30 cm high and 13 cm deep. Of course – if your submission can be folded down or rolled up to fit into a bag then that’s fine too – so this is an ideal place to sell your stocking fillers.

For more information and details on how to submit please download the application pack: http://www.kitch-en.co.uk/gallery/xmas_cupboard.doc

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 16TH NOVEMBER 2007 so don't delay!!

Scrawl Collective prints back in stock:

Remember the Scrawl Collective exhibition - that super duper collection of wonderfully graphic screen printed artworks.

Well rumor has it that the collection is back... and they're all still available to buy at those very affordable prices you might also remember. A3 prints are just £30, with A2's at £40. These prints will make fantastic Christmas gifts, not only pleasing to the eye but also an investment as Scrawl Collective's artists become ever more sought after. Check them out in store or online: http://www.kitch-en.co.uk/shop

Matt Jones aka Lunartik Vinyl Toys in Stock

The good news just doesn't stop coming this month... We have the privilege to announce that we have 2 of Mr.JOnes's very special 'Lunartik's in a Cup of Tea' in stock. These vinyl 'toys' are far from your normal toy - each one is unique, hand painted, and comes with it's very own cup, saucer and spoon packaged neatly in a box with a doyle, a little tin of tea and a strainer. Mr.JOnes was recently featured in Computer Arts Projects vinyl toys issue and his work is collected all over the world.

EXHIBITIONS/EVENTS:

'Phlegm Comics'

Showing until Saturday 27th October

The Phlegm Comics exhibition is getting good attention so far, but there's only 2 weeks left to catch it and it's definitely not one to be missed.
Check out the photos above for a taster. Phlegm is getting quite a following of late and has recently had one of his illustrations commissioned by Paul Smith for their autumn range.

'Speakerdogs' By Ben the Illustrator

Thursday 8th November - Saturday 1st December.
Special Preview: Wednesday 7th November
To attend the special preview please RSVP to vip@kitch-en.co.uk

Promptly following Phlegm will be Ben the Illustrator with his Speakerdogs!

Ben the Illustrator is a UK based artist who creates dreamy landscapes full of ethereal colour. Ben works on a variety of projects from paper toys and t-shirts to international ad campaigns and magazine editorial work. Ben's clients vary from independent magazines such as Blowback to national newspapers including The Guardian, and from artwork for the National Geographic Channel to advertisements and even designing a car for Smart Cars.

Ben's character Speakerdog came to life on canvasses painted for enjoyment and quickly became an entity within himself! Speakerdog is a peace-loving, goodtime having, environmental mascot, gaining ever-increasing popularity with the kids, like-minded artists/designers, peace lovers, peace fighters, environmentalists, carers, sharers and peace badge wearers.

He has already made appearances in Ben's landscape illustrations, as a Sketchel design for Jeremyville, on a customised pair of Sneakers for the Sneaker Pimps travelling exhibition and as his own paper toy - which has now become an ongoing project collaborating with other artists such as The Boy Fitzhammond, Susan Burghart, Andy Smith, Munk One, and many more.

The Kitch-en exhibition will be a trip into the wonderful world of Speakerdog with good vibes and incredible colour blossoming throughout the gallery. The artwork on display will include canvasses, custom painted objects, large format posters, and every Speakerdog Paper Toy designed so far. We will also be displaying and selling a variety of prints, posters and products at affordable prices.

Check out http://www.bentheillustrator.com and http://www.speakerdog.com for more info.

You can also download a couple of Speakerdog paper toys that we at Kitch-en created from our Freebies page.
